Unless Chelsea or Arsenal can find a way to stop Manchester United, the Red Devils are well on their way to what would be a record breaking league title in a matter of months. Chelsea will be the only team left who would still have to play the Red Devils before the season ends. There were times in the past when the Blues were considered United’s greatest rivals as they clashed with each other, often emerging as the better team. Those were the good times under Jose Mourinho who has since left the club. Times have changed since he left as Carlo Ancelotti now presides over what is essentially the same team that were involved in the club’s previous title wins.
Even though the players might be the same, the way they are responding to pressure cannot be more different now. It would have been unthinkable for these players to have crumbled under pressure from Manchester United when Mourinho was at the club. The current version appears to be totally different as both the players and Ancelotti have looked bewildered as the Red Devils have chipped away successfully at their lead at the top. It might even have been that Chelsea thought their early lead was unassailable but that has since evaporated. They will now have to do to their title rivals in the Man Utd vs Chelsea live match at Old Trafford what they experienced in the past few months. If they are not up to the task, then all talk of the title will be quashed and the club will be left with nothing after a promising season.
It might not be difficult to feel for what Chelsea is going through. They are coming up against a team that is led by a manager who continues to defy belief in leading the club to every success possible in football. Alex Ferguson does not endear himself to many, but success is not bred from being popular. That hunger has driven the club to several league titles and all sorts of trophies that can be won and there is no chance of that being quelled in Ferguson’s belly. It will be perfectly illustrated in his club’s clash with Chelsea with the title on the line. Carlo Ancelotti has had much on his resume as well, but mentally he has often not stood up to past challenges. He could not get the better of Mourinho in the Serie A. Now he might have met his match in English football as well in the shape of Manchester United and Ferguson.
